“Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy;
now you have received God’s mercy.”
Your Identity is beyond your feeling!
Feeling: an emotional state or reaction; a belief, especially a vague or irrational one (Oxford online dictionary).
That’s what it is – vague and irrational. That’s what our feeling is unpredictable which means It can’t and should not be trusted because it’s irrational, unreliable, and unreasonable. Our Feelings tells us we are unworthy, that we are not loved, unqualified etc. But God’s word which is our mirror, that reflects who we really are, reminds us that Now we are a Chosen people whose identity is in Christ,
As a bonafide Kingdom son and daughter saved by Christ‘s blood, we must not allow our feelings to determine or dictate our identity in Christ.
Why? because as Ephesians 1:11(Msg) says,
“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.”
Just like Jesus in Luke 4 :1-13 ( please read the VOICE translation 😁), His feeling of extreme hunger did not make him lose sight of His Identity when the devil came to tempt him.
My encouragement to you is this – Even when you don’t ‘feel’ the goosebumps, or feel what you think you should feel- Truth is your identity and WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST is intact and unchanged! Because it’s in Christ you have your identity – 1Peter 2:10 (NLT) not in your feelings.
You have been crucified with Christ and it’s Him that now lives in you now (Galatians 2:20) and it is in Christ you find your true Identity!
Remember, your Identity is not about your feeling!!!
