Morning Inspiration – LOVE THE LORD, LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR!

As you step out today, here’s a reminder from God’s word to you from Mark 12:29-31 [NLT]

29. “Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD.
30. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.
31. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

Today’s key verses echo two important commandments that Christ state that we as believers must keep wholeheartedly. Christ did not give these commandments to us as options but as a top priority that we must abide by as believers. Christ through these scriptures reminds us that the summation of the whole Ten Commandments in (Exodus 20) are based on these two fundamental commandments.

Christ through these scriptures reminds us that the summation of the whole Ten Commandments in (Exodus 20) is based on these two fundamental commandments.

As a child of God, your two primary and core assignment while you have breathe in you, “is to love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.” We are God’s handiwork and His ultimate desire that we love Him with the whole of our being because when we love God with the whole of our being, our heart desire will be to strive always to please Him and always to want to work in His will for our lives.

Christ makes it clear from our key verses that loving your neighbours as yourself is a priority that you must not neglect. Unfortunately, we live in a society today, that people care less about others and what they are after is Me, Myself and I.

One thing I realise is that if people genuinely love, cared and respected others as they do themselves, a lot of the evil, conflict, and betrayal that exist amongst us as humans in our world today, will be very minimal.

This is the sad reality we live in, which is why as God’s children we must make up our minds to abide by Christ words so that we will be the difference!

This is why as believers, we must also strive always to obey God’s word so that we can truly be the Light and Salt of our world that is so full of darkness and decay.

Therefore, as you go about your daily business and activities, make these two commandments your watchword. Be more intentional about loving and treating people like yourself. It is not always easy, I know. But remember, you have the Holy Spirit’s help at all times to help you live out God’s word without struggling!

Do have a blessed and fruitful day!

God bless you!
