As you step out today, here’s a reminder of God’s word to you from Proverbs 18:10 [NLT].
“The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.”
The NIV translation says,
“The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
The AMP translation says,
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].“
In today’s Bible verse, the writer of Proverbs shares a powerful wisdom and truth with us as believers – that the name of the Lord is a strong tower and when the righteous run to that name they are kept safe.
In today’s society, there are certain names that when they are mentioned they immediately open certain doors but the truth is regardless of how powerful and influential that name may be, it is limited to a community, people, nation or country and it not able to provide 100 percent safety. But with the name of the Lord there is no limitation because that name opens every door and keeps safe those who put their trust in it and runs to it.
The name of the Lord is not merely just an ordinary name. No, It is a name that provides unlimited safety and represents exceptional and unmatchable security. A name that is dependable and formidable and we are assured through God’s word that as believers whenever we run to the name of the Lord we will be kept safe.
Another significance reminder of today’s Bible verse is that it also gives us a confident assurance that as believers we have been given access to the greatest and most powerful name in the whole Universe, The name of JESUS!
The name of our Lord Jesus is so powerful that demons tremble at the name, situations, and circumstances of life bows to the name, and everything in heaven, on earth and under the earth bows to the name JESUS! (Philippians 2:10).
The lyrics of the song ‘What A Beautiful Name’ by Hillsong expounds on this scripture on what the name of it is to me as a believer :
“What a beautiful Name it is,
Nothing compares to this…
What a powerful name it is,
Nothing can stand against,
The Name of Jesus Christ my King…
You have no rival,
You have no equal
Now and forever,
Our God reigns…
Therefore, as you go about your daily business/activities today, take a moment to thank your Heavenly Father for giving you access to the greatest name in the world. A name that is not limited but one that everything answers to. A name that provides you with safety and security and a name that is ever dependable. Let your heart be filled with joy knowing that the name of Jesus is a fortified tower, a place of exceptional security and safety.
Doesn’t the understanding of what the name of Jesus represents makes you smile in content knowing that God has got you. Knowing that no matter the challenging situation you find yourself, you are confident that you will be safe when you call upon the name of the Lord Jesus. Because you have access to the name of the Lord, you therefore can call upon his name at any time of the day because you are his righteous one ( made righteous and holy through the blood of Jesus), you therefore have the permission to call upon his name.
Today, I encourage you that no matter what you may be going through, let today’s key verse build confidence in you knowing that even when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you fear no evil because you are encompassed with the presence of Yahweh. So, walk tall and bold knowing that you have access to the greatest name without any restriction.
A dependable name that is a strong tower and strong fortress which is able to shield you from harm and keep you safe in times of trouble. You have the authority to use the name of Jesus to speak life and hope into all of your situation. Don’t ever let shame, guilt or condemnation ( in Christ you have been set free from all of these lies- Romans 8:1) keep you away from running to that strong tower,
Remember, the name of the Lord is the name that provides exceptional, and unlimited security and safety at all times.
