As you step out today, here’s a reminder from God’s word to you from 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 [TLB]
“But thanks be to God! For through what Christ has done, He has triumphed over us so that now wherever we go he uses us to tell others about the Lord and to spread the Gospel like a sweet perfume.
As far as God is concerned there is a sweet, wholesome fragrance in our lives. It is the fragrance of Christ within us, an aroma to both the saved and the unsaved all around us.”
Glory be to God! Today’s key verses remind us that through Christ Jesus we give off a sweet fragrance rising to God. And because of this sweet scent, everywhere we go, people are able to breathe in and take in the exquisite fragrance of Christ that our lives diffuse.
We live in a world of negativity where many people carry about with them so much negative power and it is sad to see that some Christians who are meant to live out God’s word fall into this category as they consciously and sometimes unconsciously diffuse this negativity wherever they go.
But as God’s children committed to pleasing, honoring and obeying God, we are not and should not be like that such that people to question if we are truly Christ followers. We through Christ should strive daily to diffuse the scent of love, hope, peace, Joy, temperance, forgiveness, care, patience, self-control, kindness and all other fruits of the Holyspirit.
Therefore, as you go about your daily business and activities today, the question to always ask yourselves when you are around people is what fragrance am I releasing for people to breathe in?
Is it a sweet and exquisite fragrance that brings hope to the hopeless, love, joy, peace to those who feel unloved or is it a fragrance that has lost its aroma and all it releases is anger, unforgiveness, haughtiness, judgment, and speaking ills of others.
Be sincere enough to ask yourself this question daily and if your answer is not in tune with what today’s verse admonishes, know that there is grace available in Christ to change and to be that believer that diffuse God’s love and eager to spread the gospel like a sweet perfume!. Also, never forget that you have the Holyspirit within willing to help you live out God’s word each day!
Remember, the sweet fragrance of Christ within you lasts longer than any man-made fragrance which has no eternal value. It is the only exquisite fragrance that has the capacity to bring hope, peace, joy, healing, and transformation to the people you come across daily!
