Morning Inspiration – THE FATHER’S VOICE!

As you step out today, remember God’s word to you from John 10:27-29 [NIV];

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.”

The [AMP] Translation says,

“The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”

Today’s Bible verses emphasize the importance of hearing and listening to the Father’s voice because in the Father’s voice lies direction, instruction, provision, abundance, life, protection, clarity, hope, and peace.

As God’s children, one of our utmost responsibilities in our walk with the Lord is to listen to His voice and obey His voice. When we make listening to God a priority, we can ‘be rest’ assured that we will be in alignment with His will, plan, and purpose for our lives, always!

As believers when we come before the Lord’s presence to seek his face over specific issues in our lives, it is not the time for us to bombard him with our request(s) nonstop. Instead, it is the time to be quiet in his presence so that we can listen to His instruction and direction concerning the situation.

I know that sometimes if not most times as believers are guilty of not always taking time to listen when we go to him in Prayer to seek His direction. This is because we have so much pressing needs that we just want to pour out all our requests to Him.

But today we can make a decision to choose to be quiet when we come before His presence and listen to His direction and guidance. It will take time if this is not what we usually do but let us be determined to be committed to doing this. Verses 28-29 reveal to us as believers the benefits of listening to Christ our Savior —and He promises to protect and keep us safe when we as his children listen to his voice and also follow him such that nothing can snatch us away from His mighty hands! Glory to God! (that is how precious you are to the Lord).

These words are very comforting because it reassures us of God’s unconditional love and commitment to watching over us and keeping us safe.

Therefore, as you go about your daily business and activities today, make up your mind to deliberately make listening to God and obeying His instructions your number one priority especially as you seek His face for various aspects of your life whether is your family, spouse, children, business, employment, career, ministry, education etc. I am reminded of what my husband Pastor Femi  said during a Sunday service that As believers, we need to master the art of listening so that we can be in complete alignment with God’s will for our lives.”

Remember it is not just about asking God for direction, but you must be intentional about listening to His voice to align with his perfect will for your life!

Do have a blessed and fruitful day!

God bless you.

    Ma, I must confess, I have been struggling with listening and hearing God’s voice. I started waiting to hear Him speak after praying and often it’s just silence and my throughts now drift away. What am I doing wrong? It’s really a struggle for me. God bless you Ma.

          God bless you, dear Chika. To answer your question, mastering the art of listening to God is an everyday walk. The same way you have learned to master the voice of your loved ones is the same way you learn to know and master the voice of your Lord. So as believers, it is only when we have learned to recognize the voice of our Father that we can begin to listen to Him when He speaks to us, so we don’t confuse His voice with our thoughts or what the enemy of our soul is saying to us. So to master the art of listening to God is a daily walk, it requires an interaction with God’s word (first and foremost) and taking the conscious and deliberate effort of obeying every instruction God gives you through his word. When you are able to obey, you are able to listen! Also, God speaks in the midst of our worship as his children, you just have to learn to always create an atmosphere where you can be still in his presence for a couple of minutes.
          Also, intimacy with the Holyspirit further helps us as He is the spirit of God, the spirit of truth and counsel within us. Sometimes to actively listen to what God is saying to you, you might need to wait upon him in fasting and praying and at other times just being quiet within and staying away from the external noise that might distract you. God speaks every day, we as his children, just have to make sure our antennas are well tuned to hear and listen. And finally ask the Holyspirit to help you to master listening to God, He is our helper and intercessor, He sure will be excited to answer that prayer as it shows that your desires to know the Father more. I hope this helps as this is my practice of listening to God. Stay blessed and keep loving the Lord!
