Morning Inspiration – BRAND NEW IDENTITY!

As you step out today, here’s a reminder of God’s word to you from 2 Corinthians 5:17 [NLT]

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!“

The [MSG] Translation says,

“Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it!  

THe [AMP] Translation says’

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”

Today’s Bible verse is one of the fundamental scripture that has the capacity to revolutionize and transform our lives as believers because it emphasizes a brand new life, a brand new Identity, a fresh start that is only possible when we are united with Christ.

The New Creation is an all-time revelatory teaching that re-emphasize as well as challenge every Christian towards their identity in Christ. New creation realities teach that when you got born-again ( i .e. when you gave your heart to Christ Jesus), you became a new person and you are still a new person as long as you are in Christ.

It teaches that your old sinful nature has passed away.

It teaches that you are born of God.

The nature of God is born in you.

You are a new creature,  a brand new specie.

It’s so powerful when a believer discovers and operates in their Identity in Christ because as a believer, your Identity:

Precedes your Authority,

Reveals your ability

Defines your community and determine your prosperity.

It’s like all your capabilities are switched on once you come into the understanding and revelation of your nature in Christ. Glory, Hallelujah!

Therefore, you must learn how to live your new life just as a newborn baby must learn to do certain things in this world. (I Peter 2:2) Leadership experts will tell you that in an organizational structure, everything rises and falls on leadership. The same concept is with the subject of New Creation; the believer’s life stems and ends with his/her identity in Christ.

This is why the study of new creation reality is very crucial in that it is impossible to live out the victorious and blessed life offered to every believer by the free will of Jesus Christ according to the Holy Scriptures, “being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” (Romans 3:24).

This is very important because the foundation of every Christian’s accomplishment or fulfillment lies in the knowledge of their true identity in Christ. In 1 Peter 2:9, Apostle Peter writes about the believer’s identity and he says that “we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own special people, that we may proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light”.

It is very important that as Christians we know why Peter points out the believer’s identity in Christ as this will determine the outcome of our Christian walk. What this means is that as believers your new identity in Christ gives you not only the right but the capacity to publicly proclaim the praises of God because you are now a child of God (see John 1:12). In my 15 years plus of being in Christian ministry, I have now come to the understanding that most battle in the pursuit of destiny is either lost on the ground of false identity or won through our new creation reality.

In the book of Genesis Chapter three, the Bible records the first account of ‘Destiny Battle’ lost to Satan because ‘Man’ was deceived to believe he was something else less likely to be God. The same is with many Christians today who allow Satan deceive them from believing and walking in the reality of there new nature in Christ.

Therefore, as you go about your daily business and activities, get excited again about the brand new life and Identity that you have in Christ and let it influence your every decision in every area of your life. Don’t let the enemy of your soul, Satan steal the joy inherent in your Identity in Christ.

Remember, Satan is a liar, there is no truth in him and as a child of God you must know that you are the exact opposite of whatever or whoever he says you are. Remember, you are who God says you are now that you are in Christ. Failure, sickness, diseases, lack, low self-esteem, shame, lack of purpose, sin, abuse, and poverty etc. are no longer part of your nature. Hallelujah!
