As you step out today, here’s a reminder of God’s word to you from Acts 17:28 [AMP].
“For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’
The TPT Translation says,
“It is through him that we live and function and have our identity; just as your own poets have said, ‘Our lineage comes from him.”
Yes, it is through Christ that we live, function and have our Identity, And without any shadow of doubt or second guessing, our lineage comes from him. Wow! what a privilege this is because without him we are nothing and we can do absolutely nothing!
The realisation of this truth, no doubt should bring us to a place where in humble surrender we say “Lord my life, it all belongs to you.”
These words were also beautifully captured in the lyrics of Damita Haddon song ‘It all belongs to You’ My heart, my mind, my soul belongs to You
My love, my life, it all belongs to You
Belongs to You, belongs to You Yes, I surrender it all
Yes, I turn it all over
Yes, it all belongs to You
Today’s Bible verse no doubt, is one of the New Testament scripture that speaks to us directly about our identity in Christ and also reminds us as believers that we just don’t exist for ourselves, we exist for the one who gave us being.
The one who put breathe in our lungs, the one who formed and created our inmost parts and knit us together in our mother’s womb – Psalm 139:13. We were indeed created by the supreme God to live and function in line with his will and purpose for our lives.
This scripture helps to put a lot into perspective for us as believers, especially as it relates to living out our God given purpose/assignment with intentionality. The truth is when we understand the gravity of this scripture, it will help shape and impact on everything that we do. From our relationship with God and even with others.
When we understand that it is in Christ we live, move and have our being, then we know that we don’t exist for ourselves but we exist for the one who created us and who fashioned us for his purpose.
When we understand that it is in Christ we have our identity, then it helps us to focus on pleasing him, to get the approval of our Heavenly Father in all we do rather than pleasing and trying to gain approval from human beings.
With that in mind, our pursuit then is to consciously and intentionally seek his will and his will can only be made known or revealed to us through his Holyspirit within us.
Therefore, as you go about your daily business and activities today, let the consciousness of your identity in Christ inform and influence your decisions, attitudes, behaviours towards your colleagues, business associates, friends, acquaintances, family, etc.
Let this consciousness shape your perception of yourself and how you carry yourself in your daily activities.
Let this consciousness shape your heart of worship towards your Heavenly Father even as you humbly honour him with the fruits of your lips declaring to him that your mind, soul and life belongs to him and you surrender all to him. Because it is in him you live, move and have your being.
