MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY!

Here’s a reminder of God’s word to you from Ephesians 5:16-17 [AMP].

“ making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence] because the days are [filled with] evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is.”

The [NIV] Translation says,

making the most of every opportunity (making the best use of time), because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

The [NLT] translation says,

“Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”

Reading today’s Bible verses, the word intentionality comes to mind. So, in a nutshell, one of the important lesson from this key verse to us as believers is to be intentional in everything we do. Because to make the most of every opportunity that God gives to us will require us to be intentional about our time, decisions, choices and actions.

To make most of every opportunity in the times we live in will also require us to seize the moment i.e. to take hold of the opportunities that God brings our way by being diligent. Another important lesson in this scripture is that when we make the most of every opportunity, we will see things differently i.e. our perspective will change, we will be deliberate about our actions, mindful of our character and we will also be motivated to actively seek God’s will in all that we do.

As believers, we understand that we are created by God to accomplish his will and purpose for our lives. The Bible reminds us of this in Jeremiah 18:6 when it says that “…You are like the clay in the potter’s hands, and I am the potter.”

It is thereforeimportant that we intentionally seek to understand what God purpose is for our lives (because nothing God create is purposeless) through looking into His word, seeking Him in prayer and waiting upon Him in fasting. And because of the times we live in, the Bible admonishes us that we cannot afford to be casual, thoughtless and live each moment carelessly.

But rather we are to be intentional and mindful in the things we do, in how we live our lives, in our conversations with friends, colleagues in the workplace, acquaintances we encounter, business partners we work/deal with, and customers we serve etc. God desires that we take advantage of every opportunity, open door (s) that He brings our way no matter how big or small it looks because He wants to reveal His glory, love, grace, and compassion through us to others.

God has an Agenda and He needs us to recognise and cease every moment and opportunities He creates for us using it with wisdom and being diligent!

The bible says it loud and clear, we live in ‘evil days’  hence why we have to be very intentional about making use of every opportunity which includes our time, relationships and resources. Life is short, so it is imperative to daily pursue everything that God has called you and me to do and we must do everything within our power to kill Procrastination, which can hinder us from fulfilling God’s purpose and agenda.

Therefore as you go about your daily business and activities today, seek to take advantage of every opportunity (ies) that God brings your way and to understand His will in every matter. Be diligent with every opportunity that God brings your way especially the people that God brings into your life. intentional. Consciously seek God for His wisdom in all you do. Be careful not to act thoughtlessly, but to earnestly understand what the Lord wants you to do per time.

Refuse to procrastinate but rather choose to step out boldly to use your talents, gifts, and ideas to take advantage of the opportunities God brings your way and in the process, you create products, business, and ministries that will be a solution to some of the problems in your community/ nation.

Live each day with this focus in mind  – to make the most of every opportunity because the days are evil!

Do have a blessed and fruitful day!

God bless you.
